If every there was a doubt in my mind about birchbox, this month totally solved that problem! I recently adjusted my birchbox profile as I realized I am not nearly as much of a risk taker with my beauty routine as I like to think. I was getting items like teal eyeliner which is so not me, and I found this month’s box to be my perfect match.

My September box included:
- RUFFIAN Nail Lacquer in Fox Hunt
- Yes to Blueberries Cleansing Facial
- Mèreadesso All-In-One Moisturizer
- Yes to Grapefruit CC cream
- Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Sugarbomb
Let’s get down to the details because I’m so excited to share these with you that I can hardly contain myself.
I haven’t had the chance to test the durability of this lovely shade yet, but the color is gorgeous! The handle is designed to allow the applier to have a solid grip (and it also looks totally adorable) so it is easier to apply. This shade was a beautiful orangey red that is great for the summer to fall transition.
Cleansing towelettes and makeup removing towelettes are my absolute must have for busy days. I like to keep these around to remove my makeup pre-workout if I’m going directly from work, post-workout for freshening up, or just removing makeup before bed. I’ve passed these wipes a few times in my local drugstore and I must admit, the cheaper, store brand always wins. These towelettes may be enough to change my mind for good! Formulated with blueberry and apple extracts, these wipes smell sweet, cleanse away dirt, and moisturize delicately.
All-in-one is always a touchy subject with me. Shampoo + conditioner? No. Moisturizer + primer? Please. Historically, all-in-ones are really nothing special and despite the convenience of an all-in-one product, I’d still rather layer my products on separately. This product may be the game changer. It boasts that it is an eye cream, toner, primer, and moisturizer in one. Ridiculous, I know, but it seriously works. I mainly judged it based on the ability to prime and moisturize, as I really can’t tell much of a difference with the use of a toner anyway. I wore it under my makeup with no additional primer and my makeup stayed put all day. Definitely impressive! I also used a bit extra under my eyes and it helped de-puff them in the morning as well. What I also enjoyed was the unique dispenser on the foil packet.
Despite how much I liked this product, $120 is insanely steep. Yikes…
If you’ve been reading for a while, you’ll understand my love of and constant search for an awesome BB or CC cream. I love that they offer sheer coverage, while still correcting imperfections, evening tone, and improving the quality of my skin. This sample came with two side by side packs of CC cream (pictured in the box photo at the top), one in light and one in light-medium. The cream was thick like my Rimmel BB cream, but it smelled lovely. The coverage was pretty sheer, but still helped even out my skin tone. Not amazing enough to make me switch, but I liked the sample.
Onto the pièce de résistance…Benefit NEVER disappoints, and this lip gloss is no exception. I recently sauntered into Bare Minerals in search of the perfect pinky nude gloss and was so disappointed to not find one that looked good on me (however I did pick up a lovely berry shade). The sugarbomb gloss is beautiful and this was my favorite item in my September birchbox. It is so pretty, sheer, slightly shimmery and looks effortless. Definitely my new go-to gloss.
Overall, this month’s birchbox was a home run. I liked everything that I received and it suited me better than some of my previous boxes. This goes to show how important filling out the profile can be. If you’re interested in signing up (heads up: they have a waitlist), check them out here!
